Default What I Love About My Car...

Besides everything else...

NO BRAKE DUST!!!

It is amazing. Maybe I just can't see it because of the color of the sport wheels. But, after owning an Audi for 3 yrs, and having to clean the wheels just by pulling it out of the garage, this is wonderful. I was buying wheel cleaner by the case. The money and time I save in cleaning my M, makes up for the extra gas I need to feed this beast.

Great point! I was just commenting to some folks about this. I used to have a Volvo S60 and one of my biggest complaints was all of the brake dust!

I too like how easy it is to keep this puppy's wheels lookin good.

No kidding...I still have my 01 A6, and just a short drive makes the wheels filthy, glad my M35X does not do this..

I have a platinum m35 with the normal 18's...the car looks clean ALL the time (although, I am a perfectionist and think that a little dust makes the car filthy). Hardly any brake dust ever. Love it!

I'm really surprised. My wife has an '05 A4 Cab, and the dust is just as bad as it was on my A6. Maybe it's the amount of spoke surface that makes it more noticable.

I absolutely agree. I was just thinking that as I changed wheels/tires for the warmer weather, back to my stock sport wheels. My previous car was a 2003 G35 coupe and the brake dust build up was enormous. And, during the winter when I did not hand wash it, the build up was hard to remove. I even researched and bought PS1 wheel cleaning gel, which worked very well. Now, since the normal car wash solution cleans my wheels fine, PS1 is overkill.

Is this a factor of the brake pad composition? wheel alloy? I don't really care why...I am glad I don't need to scrub my wheels anymore.

I came from a long line of BMW's and those things are legendary for brake dust. One of my first posts after getting my M was about the lack of dust and how wonderful that is!

Zero brake dust here as well, and very little from my FX35 prior. My 330i's wheels had to be washed 2x per week to keep them clean. Same with my Porsches...

Reading down the post I was going to say the same thing. Most BMW's I see on the road have front wheels that are almost black. And those busy wheels can't be fun to clean.

Thumbs up

I was going to make a comment about it and make separate thread but found this one. NO brake dust as well on my 2009 M35 with almost 2K miles! Love it!
