Default Couple VQ in a S13 Questions

I have been talking to a buddy of mine who works for Nissan. Long story short, he is going to try and snag me a engine from a Maxima that needs a Timing Chain guide. He says they just get used for scrap metal and can more then likely grab one for me. I have a few questions in regaurds to a swap in a S13.

1. It is a FWD, what are the HP specs vs. a Z VQ? He has one of those lying around too.

2. Does anyone have mounting specs? I have researched EngineSwaptech.com/FA.com/N ico.com. I havent found any SPECIFIC specs

3. What transmission mounts are you using?

4. Driveshaft? Custom?

5. Anyone successfully use the Xterra 6 Speed tranny housing? I think I read on FA.com that the linkage should line up real close on a S13.

6. Anyone hook up A/C and P/S successfully?

7. Typical problems with the swap?

Pretty much I am trying to become familiar with the swap before I start so I can lessen the chances of problems.

I think thats about all I can think of for the moment. Monday I find out whether or not I will be able to pick the VQ up. If the Z VQ is better, I will hold out for them to pull that one. Thanks!

Not trying to jack the thread, i just have a question on the same topic i have been wondering about.

How do you guys get around the NATS system? Do you use a 350z key and imobilizer? or how do you make that work?

Yes, key, immobilizer ring and ECU have to be used. If you get them from different cars then you have to take the whole car to Nissan and have a tech program them to each other.

Check out my homepage as well as the Tomcat Buildup thread.

1. The power differences in the motors are largely due to tunning, manifold differences, and VTC. The 30 timing system is much easier to get running.
2. There are no specific mounting specs because each project is unique.
3. S13 crossmember turned around and bolted straight to Z33 tranny.
4. Yes, custom.
5. I've heard this as well but haven't looked into it further.
6. There will be some serious swaybar clearance issue with the AC compresor but PS pump should be fairly straightforward.
7. Plenty. As I said, check my homepage and thread for details.
