Default G50 Tranny Issue Brain Storming

Let's see what you guys got.

Haven't put a ton of miles on the car since I bought it but I did go a little longer than I should have without doing some maintenance/preventive.

I'm in the process of doing a BG Quick Clean, drain/refill/filter, Lube Gard red, and adding a cooler and external filter. I have also swapped the TCU for a '93 (first gear start) model.

The issue is I have no third gear. It does not even attempt to shift, just runs second all the way to redline.

My first thought was that i cooked the transmission and I decided to do the above (late) maintenance with the hope that maybe I could save it. A couple people that have done so successfully convinced me and even if it doesn't work I'm only out a couple bucks relative to stuff I needed either way.

There is a performance transmission shop in the same complex as me so I stopped by today to see what they thought. One of the guys made (what seems to me like) a good point and noted that if the tranny is not even trying to shift the issue is most likely electrical. The TCU mentioned above was installed post-issues.

So I'm going to wrap up the maintenance and run through the self-diagnostic in the FSM over the next couple days (which may very well fix or spell out the problem) but I was curious if anyone had any ideas/similar experiences/advice.

If I were you, I would double check to see if the car has gas. =p
